Spawn figures are based on the fictional comic book character called Spawn. He is an undead super hero that first appeared in Spawn #1 (1992). The character is created by Todd McFarlane, an artist who had previously worked on Spider-Man at Marvel Comics. Since his entry into the comic book superhero universe, Spawn has been featured in various comic book series under the Image Comics banner. Spawn was adapted into a 1997 feature film, a HBO animated series lasting from 1997 until 1999. McFarlane Toys, previously known as Todd toys, are produced with one key defining feature - exquisite attention to detail. The toy line commenced with the Spawn figures and since developed into probably the most successful toy line.
